Partial lockdown lifted from Greater Male’ Region

Health Protection Agency (HPA) has lifted the partial lockdown which had been imposed on the Greater Male’ Region.

Under orders from the Director-General of Public Health Maimoona Aboobakuru, a partial lockdown was imposed in the Greater Male’ Region on April 2, restricting movement on the streets of Male’, Hulhumale’ and Villimale’ from 1700hrs to 2000hrs daily. HPA has now issued a statement, announcing the lockdown has been lifted.

However, HPA stated the order which prohibits the gatherings of more than three people on the streets still remains, despite lifting the lockdown. The agency also stated special measures must be imposed in local markets, supermarkets, shops, offices, banks and public service facilities to prevent large gatherings and practice social distancing.
