National Emergency Operation Centre (NEOC) has revealed 28 individuals have been permitted to leave following the observation of the 14-day quarantine period.
Spokesperson of the NEOC Mohamed Mabrook Azeez stated all individuals have been released under the guidelines of World Health Organisation (WHO), noting a total of 325 individual have been released from quarantine thus far. Mabrook said 2,509 samples taken from a total of 2,350 people have tested negative for COVID-19, while Maldives has had a total of 19 confirmed cases. Currently, 272 samples are pending test results.
Additionally, the spokesperson revealed currently 1,019 people are staying in the quarantine facilities. They include 197, 188 and 100 Maldivians who were repatriated from Malaysia, India and Sri Lanka respectively.
The spokesperson said Joali Maldives Resort, Bodufushi Maldives Resort, Velassaru Maldives Resort, Maafushi, Maldivian Safari and Island Safari are currently under monitoring. He added 130 individuals have consulted the flu clinics in the Maldives taking the tally of people who sought services to a total of 6,369.
Following the observation of the quarantine period, travel restrictions have been lifted from 18 resorts and 43 safaris.
