Maldives and the UAE discuss responding to COVID-19 pandemic

Maldives and the UAE have discussed the challenges faced in responding to COVID-19 pandemic and on the measures taken to control and contain the spread of the coronavirus.

During a telephone conversation, Maldivian Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid and UAE Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan reviewed on-going collaborations between the two countries, and identified areas that require urgent actions to ensure the social and economic impacts of COVID-19 are minimised.

Minister Shahid commended the efforts of the UAE government in combatting the coronavirus, in particular, the large number of COVID-19 tests that have been undertaken in the country, which has significantly enhanced the ability in containing the spread of the virus in the UAE. He also thanked Foreign Minister Al Nahyan and the UAE government for the generous support extended to the Maldives over the years.
