National Emergency Operation Centre (NEOC) has stated there are no financial difficulties in imposing the necessary preventive measures against the spread of COVID-19 in the Maldives and establishing the required facilities.
Speaking at the daily press briefing held at NEOC, Head of Communicable Disease Department at Health Protection Agency (HPA) Dr. Nazla Rafeeg said the centre is taking all the necessary measures to contain the spread of COVID-19 in the Maldives. She said there are no financial difficulties in acquiring the facilities required for COVID-19 operations and making the necessary arrangements.
However, Nazla said the Maldives has been facing the same challenges, also faced by other countries, in acquiring certain equipment and facilities due to limited availability in the world and difficulties in transport. She said equipment, materials and other facilities are being brought to the Maldives as much as the market allows to do so.
Speaking further, Nazla revealed a survey is underway to determine the level of community spread or local transmission of COVID-19 in the Maldives.
