NEOC to accept ventilators and other equipment to curb COVID-19

National Emergency Operation Centre (NEOC) has stated it will welcome business enterprises providing ventilators and other equipment to assist the efforts to curb the COVID-19 pandemic.

When asked at the daily press briefing whether the government will accept ventilators and other equipment provided by businessmen, Spokesperson of NEOC Mohamed Mabrook Azeez said the government will accept with gratitude any assistance provided to fight the pandemic. He added the government will welcome and appreciate all assistance provided by business companies.

The spokesperson revealed in efforts to increase the number of ventilators the government is seeking to procure 135 ventilators. He attributed the delay in acquiring ventilators and other equipment to cargo service issues faced due to the travel restrictions imposed during the pandemic.

NEOC said currently there are 97 ventilators placed across the Maldives.
