A flight of the national airline, Maldivian, has departed to Bangkok with care packages for Maldivians living in Thailand.
The flight left with 55 Thai passengers, including tourists and expatriate workers from the Maldives. The airline opened the opportunity to send care packages on the flight to Maldivian families in Bangkok on March 12. The care packages include essential items not available in Bangkok, with a weight restriction of 15 kilograms per family.
Maldivian has been operating cargo flights to countries with large Maldivian communities. Nationals from these countries in the Maldives are also being transported back to their countries on these flights.
Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced the submission of care packages to be sent to the UAE has been put on hold following the lockdown imposed in the Greater Male' Region.
