HPA imposes measures across the Maldives to curb the spread of COVID-19

Health Protection Agency (HPA) has imposed special measures across all parts of the Maldives to curb the spread of COVID-19.

Under the order of Director General of Public Health Maimoona Aboobakuru, all non-essential travel between islands has now been banned. The order states local councils must coordinate with relevant authorities in providing food and other essential items to residents. Furthermore, all social gatherings, including parties, ceremonies, picnics and sporting events have been banned across the country.

HPA urges the public to follow the instructions given by state authorities at all times and to practice social and physical distancing when heading outdoors for essential purposes. HPA has also requested individuals who have travelled to islands from Male' City, resorts or safaris to immediately contact the authorities if any symptoms of COVID-19 are detected.
