Addu City Council bans movement between connected wards

Addu City Council has banned movement between the wards connected by the Addu Link Road causeway.

Speaking at a press conference, Addu City Mayor Abdulla Sodiq said the movement has been restricted in Addu to support the measures imposed across the country by the Health Protection Agency (HPA) to curb the spread of COVID-19. As such, the mayor announced the decision to ban movement between the wards connected by the causeway, which includes Hithadhoo, Feydhoo, Maradhoo, Maradhoo-feydhoo, and Gan. However, he said exceptions will be made for individuals seeking treatment from Addu Equatorial Hospital.

Furthermore, the mayor announced changes have been made to business hours in Addu. As such, he noted shops will be open from 0900hrs to 1700hrs daily, while delivery services can be provided until 2200hrs. He said all restaurants and cafes will be closed for dining, while take-away and delivery services are allowed during the specified hours.

With the detection of COVID-19 in Male' City, the government has been imposing measures across the country to curb the community spread of the coronavirus.
