Health Protection Agency (HPA) has ordered all individuals who left the Greater Male' Region to another island after April 15 to isolate themselves for a period of 14 days.
Under the authorities granted to Director General of Public Health Maimoona Abubakuru during the State of Public Health Emergency, HPA ordered all individuals who left from Male', Hulhumale', Villimale', Thilafushi or Gulhifalhu to another island after April 15 to isolate themselves for 14 days starting from the day of arrival at the island. Furthermore, HPA also ordered the crew of cargo vessels or flights who disembarked in the region after April 15 to isolate themselves for 14 days from their arrival at their current location. Local councils have been tasked with making sure the order is followed by such individuals.
The order further instructs crew of cargo vessels and flights which enter the Greater Male' Region to observe personal safety measures to mitigate the risk of the spread of COVID-19. HPA has urged the public to follow the instructions given by authorities and to cooperate with the efforts to curb the spread of COVID-19 in the Maldives.
