Total number of COVID-19 cases in Maldives rises to 128

Health Protection Agency (HPA) has revealed the total number of COVID-19 cases in the Maldives has risen to 128.

HPA said 18 individuals including 2 Bangladeshis, 1 Indian, 1 Sri Lankan and employees from Kuredu Island Resort tested positive for COVID-19 in Male' City on April 24. The first positive cases in the Maldives were reported from Kuredu in early March. In total, 68 Maldivians and 60 foreigners tested positive for COVID-19 in the Maldives.

National Emergency Operation Centre (NEOC) said 112 patients are undergoing treatment in the country, in addition to the 2 foreigners who are undergoing treatment abroad after contracting COVID-19 while in the Maldives. The patients undergoing treatment include an 80-year old Maldivian who has been transferred to Dharumavantha Hospital for close monitoring and observation.

In total, 16 patients, including 13 foreigners and 3 Maldivians, have fully recovered from COVID-19 in the Maldives.
