Vice President Faisal Naseem has held discussions with senior officials and representatives of regional hospitals, atoll hospitals and other relevant authorities regarding challenges faced as the country battles the spread of COVID-19.
During the online discussions, Vice President Naseem clarified the difficulties being faced at hospitals while providing their services during this global pandemic. The vice president clarified procedures in place to provide uninterrupted services to patients presenting symptoms of other illnesses, patients with prolonged illnesses, patients suffering from hereditary conditions such as thalassemia and pregnant patients. He also highlighted the importance of providing these services continuously regardless of the stringent measures being taken at health centres and hospitals against COVID-19 and urged all the members to collaborate and provide their best services and assistance to those in need.
Senior officials from the health care sector elaborated on the challenges faced and measures taken due to COVID-19 and underscored that due to travel restrictions, difficulties are faced transporting medication between islands.
The discussions were joined by Minister of Health Abdulla Ameen, Minister of Gender, Family and Social Services Aishath Mohamed Didi, and senior officials at Aasandha Company Private Limited and Local Government Authority (LGA) who gave precise instructions to the health care representatives. The participants also detailed the actions taken to ease the obstacles faced by the health care sector during these trying times.
