Monitoring status lifted from Kuredu Island Resort

The Health Protection Agency (HPA) has lifted the monitoring status from Kuredu Island Resort and Spa after 46 days.

The first cases of COVID-19 in the Maldives were reported from Kuredu on March 8. In total, five individuals tested positive for COVID-19 from the resort, including tourists and staff of the resort. All of them have now made full recoveries from the disease.

Spokesperson of National Emergency Operation Centre (NEOC) Mohamed Mabrook Azeez said Kuredu was kept under monitoring until all employees of the resort test negative for COVID-19, in order to ensure there is no community transmission in the island. He said 649 samples were obtained for testing from the resort, all of which have tested negative.

In addition to the Greater Male’ Region, 20 islands are currently under monitoring.
