Court issues warrant to test an individual for COVID-19

Civil Court of Maldives has issued a warrant to collect a sample from an individual in a quarantine facility to test him for COVID-19.

Civil Court said the warrant was issued to allow authorities to test him for COVID-19. This is the first ever such case in the Maldives where an individual refused screening for the test.

Previously, Civil Court issued orders to allow authorities to move individuals to quarantine facilities. In this regard, two Maldivians, a Bangladeshi and an Austrian have been quarantined after attaining court warrants.

COVID-19 is highly contagious and refusing to test for highly contagious diseases in the Maldives is punishable by law.
