MTCC completes construction of Himandhoo harbour

Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has completed the construction of a harbour in Himandhoo, Alifu Alifu Atoll.

The project was contracted to MTCC in March 2019, while site mobilisation was carried out in April 2019. The project included dredging of 28,030 cubic meters of sand, as well as the construction of a 372-metre quay wall, 405-metre breakwater, 141-metre revetment, 3-metre wide concrete jetty for smaller vessels and an access bridge linking the revetment and breakwater.

Furthermore, a ramp was constructed to allow barges to access the harbour, while a 1,750-metre pavement was constructed adjacent to the quay wall along with the installation of street lamps. The total cost of the project was USD 3 million.
