National Emergency Operation Centre (NEOC) has revealed the number of elderly individuals who are testing positive for COVID-19 in the Maldives is relatively low.
Speaking at the daily press briefing held at NEOC, Dr. Ibrahim Afzal from the Technical Advisory Group (TAG) stated most of the COVID-19 patients in the Maldives are between the age of 18 and 40. Dr. Afzal said it is a positive sign as elderly individuals are at the highest risk considering their declining health. He further said a surprising 54% of the people who contracted coronavirus and tested positive did not develop any symptoms of COVID-19.
Statistics from Health Protection Agency (HPA) indicate thirteen elderly individuals have tested positive for COVID-19 in the Maldives.
