Health Protection Agency (HPA) has revealed the number of COVID-19 cases in the Maldives has risen to 904.
HPA said 304 Maldivians and 600 foreigners, including 495 Bangladeshis and 72 Indians have tested positive for COVID-19. In total, 870 individuals are undergoing treatment, including 13 patients who are undergoing treatment from the hospital. Another 2 foreigners are being treated abroad after contracting the disease while in the Maldives.
Maldives has recorded three deaths from COVID-19 so far, including an 83-year-old Maldivian woman, an 88-year-old Maldivian man, and a 33-year-old Bangladeshi man. A total of 31 individuals, including 17 Maldivians and 14 foreigners, have made a full recovery from COVID-19 in the Maldives. Meanwhile, there are currently 1,445 individuals in quarantine facilities and 842 individuals in isolation facilities.
HPA has extended the State of Public Health Emergency declared in the Maldives until May 31 and has also extended the lockdown imposed in the Greater Male' Region until May 14. HPA expects the COVID-19 outbreak to hit its peak between May 15 and May 31.
