Minister of Health Abdulla Ameen has said the administration has formulated a special plan of measures to ensure control when COVID-19 hits its peak in the Maldives towards the end of the month.
Speaking to PSM News, Minister Ameen said the plan currently in place had been formulated with opinions and contributions from experts and stakeholders. Noting a key focus of the plan is to identify and ensure the elderly remain indoors as elderly citizens with long term illnesses usually get critically ill when infected with coronavirus, the minister called on the public to safeguard the elderly during the pandemic.
As the Maldives prepares to brace the peak of the spread in the country, the administration is working to make testing arrangements in the islands, increase capacity in quarantine and isolation facilities and increase the testing capacity in the country. Additionally, the administration is also working to facilitate better transport of goods from the capital to other islands.
