COVID-19 patient in serious condition in the Maldives

National Emergency Operation Centre (NEOC) has said a COVID-19 patient undergoing treatment in the Maldives is in serious condition.

Speaking at the daily press briefing held at the NEOC, Dr. Moosa Murad from the Technical Advisory Group (TAG) said one of the patients undergoing treatment in Tree Top Hospital is in serious condition, adding the patient is not yet on ventilator support. He said the medical team is closely monitoring the situation of the patient. He did not give further details of the patient.

Furthermore, Dr. Murad said in total 4 patients are undergoing treatment with ventilator support, adding 2 patients are treated in Tree Top Hospital and the other 2 in the DH11 facility at Dharumavantha Hospital. In total, there are 12 patients undergoing treatment in hospital including a child.

In addition, Dr. Murad said 1 of the 3 patients in DH11 has shown good progress in recovery. He said the patient will be transferred from intensive care should the symptoms improve. In total, 909 patients are undergoing treatment in the Maldives.

The Maldives has recorded 4 deaths from COVID-19.
