137 frontline workers amongst confirmed COVID-19 cases

National Emergency Operation Centre (NEOC) has revealed 137 frontline workers are amongst the total number of COVID-19 cases in the Maldives.

Speaking at the daily press briefing held at the NEOC, Dr. Ibrahim Afzal from the Technical Advisory Group (TAG) said the 137 individuals include individuals from various service providers including delivery and security services although no further details were provided. The number of cases reported in Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) and Maldives Police Service (MPS) has also not been disclosed for security reasons.

The Maldives has increased its protective measures since the spread is projected to reach its peak during the next two weeks. The frontline workers have been putting a collective and a continuous effort to contain the spread and run the essential service in the country amidst the pandemic.
