Minister of Health Abdulla Ameen has stated the patients who were treated in ventilators in Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) have been moved to the medical ward after their conditions improved.
Speaking to PSM News on people being treated in hospitals, Health Minister Ameen said their conditions are being monitored closely and their improvement is a positive development in the fight against COVID-19 in the Maldives. In total, 10 COVID-19 patients are currently hospitalised in the Maldives who include people with long-term illnesses and the elderly. National Emergency Operation Centre (NEOC) said all patients in Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital and Tree Top Hospital are in stable condition.
A large majority of the people who got infected in the Maldives are between the ages of 20 and 40 and most people who are infected have mild symptoms of fever and flu. The Maldives has recorded over 1,100 cases, of which a third are Maldivian nationals and the rest are expatriates either working or holidaying in the Maldives.
