National Emergency Operation Centre (NEOC) has revealed 239 frontline workers have tested positive for COVID-19 in the Maldives so far.
Speaking at the daily press briefing held at the NEOC, Dr. Ibrahim Afzal from the Technical Advisory Group (TAG) shared information about the number of positive cases among frontline workers from April 16 to May 22. Dr. Afzal said the highest number of frontline workers tested positive for COVID-19 on May 8, with a total of 51 workers testing positive on a single day. He said the number of positive cases among the frontline workers are now decreasing.
The number of cases reported from Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) and Maldives Police Service (MPS) has also not been disclosed for security reasons.
The frontline workers have been putting a collective and a continuous effort to contain the spread and run the essential service in the country amidst the pandemic.
