Bid submission deadline extended for water and sewerage projects in 11 islands

The government has extended the deadline to submit bids for the construction of a water and sewerage system in 11 islands.

Ministry of Finance said the deadline for registration and bid submission of water and sewerage projects in 11 islands has been extended upon the request of Ministry of Planning and National Infrastructure, due to the COVID-19 situation in the Maldives. The finance ministry said the deadline for registration has been extended to August 9, while the bid submission date has been extended to August 10.

The 11 islands announced by the government for the construction of water and sewerage systems include Dhonfanu, Fehendhoo, Fulhadhoo, Kihaadhoo and Kudarikilu in Baa Atoll, Landhoo, Miladhoo and Magoodhoo in Noonu Atoll, Noomara and Bileiyfahi in Shaviyani Atoll and Thulusdhoo in Kaafu Atoll. The projects will be contracted on a design-and-build basis, under contractor financing policy.

Several infrastructure development projects announced by the government have been put on hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, several ongoing projects are still in progress.
