National Emergency Operation Centre (NEOC) has revealed an individual placed under home quarantine in Maamendhoo, Gaafu Alifu Atoll has tested positive for COVID-19.
NEOC said the male who returned to Maamendhoo on June 13 tested positive after he developed symptoms. NEOC said the local man accompanied a patient and arrived in Male' City on May 31. NEOC noted he returned a negative result when he was previously tested for COVID-19.
Furthermore, NEOC revealed 40 passengers along with him and two of his family members travelled in the same flight to Kooddoo Airport, adding most of the passengers were from Gemanafushi, Gaafu Alifu Atoll. The authorities have now commenced contact tracing of close contacts of the individual.
