Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has commenced the harbour expansion project of Hulhudheli, Dhaalu Atoll.
MTCC said the project team was mobilised to the harbour expansion project site in Hulhudheli on June 25. MTCC added the project received Environment Impact Assessment (EIA) approval on April 30.
The state-owned company revealed the project involves dredging and excavation of 45,585 cubic metres of sand, the construction of a 277-metre-long breakwater, a 432-metre quay wall, a 60-metre groynes and a 60-metre revetment. Furthermore, MTCC stated the project also includes the construction of a 2,160-square metre paved area.
The project was awarded to MTCC on December 10 last year and is estimated to cost USD 2.59 million. The project is estimated to be completed within 362 days.
