Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has commenced the second phase of the harbour development project in Kelaa, Haa Alifu Atoll.
As part of the project, MTCC will complete the maintenance dredging operations of 3,496 cubic metres, channel dredging of 12,768 cubic metres along with construction of a 30 metre breakwater; a 220 metre revetment; a 50 metre quay wall and 1,445 square metre paved area. MTCC added it is currently working on revetment construction. The project also includes the installation of mooring buoys and streetlights.
The project was awarded to MTCC on June 30, 2019 and is estimated to cost USD 1.13 million. The state-owned enterprise is contracted to complete the project within 410 days.
