The UAE state-owned flag carrier airline, Emirates, has announced the decision to resume passenger flights to the Maldives on July 16.
Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, Emirates temporarily halted its commercial operations although the airline is now restarting operations for various destinations. In this regard, the airline has decided to operate five flights a week between Velana International Airport (VIA) and Dubai International Airport (DXB) on Sunday, Monday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
Emirates stated it has implemented a comprehensive set of measures at every step of the customer journey to ensure the safety of its customers and employees on the ground and in the air, including the distribution of complimentary hygiene kits containing masks, gloves, hand sanitiser and antibacterial wipes to all customers. Furthermore, Emirates reminded customers that travel restrictions remain in place, and travelers will only be accepted on flights if they comply with the eligibility and entry criteria requirements of their destination countries.
The Maldives has announced it will reopen its borders for visitors and international passenger airline operations on July 15.
