Sri Lankan Airlines has decided to restart scheduled flights to the Maldives on July 15.
Speaking to PSM News, Managing Director of Ace Aviation Services Maldives Private Limited Mohamed Firaq said about 70 seats have already been booked for the first flight arriving from Colombo, Sri Lanka. Firaq revealed Sri Lankan will operate flights on Sunday, Wednesday and Thursday every week. He further stated connecting flights will be operated with the commencement of the operations.
Initially, Sri Lankan Airlines operated 3 daily flights to Velana International Airport (VIA) and 3 weekly flights to Gan International Airport (GIA). Sri Lankan Airlines operated cargo flights to the Maldives although passenger operations were temporarily halted due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Maldives has announced to open its borders on July 15 after a three month shutdown.
