Health Emergency Operation Centre (HEOC) has revealed the tourist who tested positive for COVID-19 in the Maldives on July 26 had arrived from the US.
Spokesperson of HEOC Dr. Fathimath Nazla Rafeeq said the American tourist who tested positive for COVID-19 in the Maldives on July 26 arrived in the country for a vacation at the Cheval Blanc Randheli Resort. Dr. Nazla revealed the tourist had not shown any symptoms of COVID-19, despite the positive test. She added efforts are underway to trace the contacts of the tourist.
This is the first COVID-19 case detected among tourists since the Maldivian borders were reopened on July 15. 3,509 tourists have arrived in the Maldives since borders were reopened following a shutdown of 110 days.
