Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has concluded the coastal protection project launched in Fohdhoo, Noonu Atoll.
MTCC revealed the design and build of the coastal protection structures in Fohdhoo was completed on July 26. The project consisted of coastal protection of a 180-metre area using geo bag revetment and sand backfilling an area of 5,000 cubic metres.
Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure contracted MTCC to conduct the coastal protection project in Fohdhoo on February 25, 2020. The state-owned company commenced the project in the island on March 7.
The project was aimed to solve issues of erosion of the island. The project was completed at a cost of over USD 434,000.
