Maldives records 16th COVID-19 death

Health protection Agency (HPA) has revealed a 71-year-old Maldivian woman has passed away from COVID-19.

HPA said the woman had passed away at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) at approximately 1338hrs on July 30. This is the 16th COVID-19 death recorded in the Maldives.

The first COVID-19 death recorded in the Maldives was that of an 83-year-old Maldivian woman who passed away on April 29. The COVID-19 deaths recorded in the Maldives include 11 Maldivians, 4 Bangladeshis and 1 Filipino.

Meanwhile, the total number of COVID-19 cases in the Maldives has now risen to 3,568. This includes 983 active cases and 2,554 recoveries.
