Maldives records 17th COVID-19 death

Health Protection Agency (HPA) has revealed a 52-year-old Maldivian woman has passed away from COVID-19.

HPA said the woman passed away at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) on August 2. HPA stated she was brought to the emergency room due to breathing difficulties. This is the 17th COVID-19 death recorded in the Maldives.

The first COVID-19 death was recorded in the Maldives on April 29. The COVID-19 deaths recorded in the country include 11 Maldivians and 6 foreigners.

Maldives has recorded nearly 4,000 COVID-19 cases.
