MTCC begins dredging Rakeedhoo harbour

Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has commenced the dredging of the harbour in Rakeedhoo, Vaavu Atoll.

MTCC revealed the design-and-build project received approval for the Environment Impact Assessment (EIA) from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) on December 26, 2019. MTCC said the project involves dredging and excavation of 5,645-cubic-metres, construction of a 156-metre-long breakwater, a 164-metre quay wall and a 74-metre revetment. The project also includes construction of a 429-square-metre paved area and the installation of harbour and navigational lights.

The project, valued at over USD 1.2 million, was awarded to MTCC on October 1, 2019.
