Contacts of positive cases aged 65 and above to be tested immediately

Health Emergency Operation Centre (HEOC) has revealed individuals aged 65 and above, who are contacts of a positive case, will be tested for COVID-19 immediately after being placed in quarantine.

Speaking in a press conference, Spokesperson of HEOC, Dr. Fathmath Nazla Rafeeq said every individual identified during contact tracing of a positive case will not be tested for COVID-19. Dr. Nazla revealed every person quarantined for being identified as a contact of a positive case will however be tested for COVID-19 after 14-days of quarantine. She added tests will be done immediately for high risk individuals who are isolated or quarantined.

Moreover, the spokesperson of HEOC noted every individual put on isolation must complete 14-days even if they test negative from initial tests during the period. She added individuals will be released from quarantine when they test negative from the release test done after 14-days.
