A travel survey has revealed the Maldives is the most searched destination on Google by tourists from the UK.
According to a survey conducted by British travel insurance company, Medical Travel Compared, the Maldives is the most searched tourist destination in the UK among tourists who wish to travel this year as well as next year. Mexico and Bali, Indonesia are the second and third most searched tourist destinations in the UK.
Since Maldives reopened its borders on July 15, most of the tourist arrivals to the country have been from the UK. However, as the Maldives is not included in the UK travel exemption list, all tourists who visit the Maldives are required to undergo 14 days in quarantine after returning to the UK from the Maldives.
Managing Director of Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) Thoyyib Mohamed had earlier revealed discussions are underway with the UK government to include the Maldives in the travel exemption list.
