Phase 2 of the road development project in Dhuvaafaru, Raa Atoll has been contracted to Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC).
The contract for Phase 2 of Dhuvaafaru road development project was signed during a special ceremony held at Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure. The contract was signed by Director General of the Planning Ministry Fathimath Shaana Farooq and CEO of MTCC Adam Azim.
Under phase 2 of the project, asphalt will be laid on a road area of 25,513 square metres, while an area of 6,813 square metres will be paved. The project will also include installation of a stormwater drainage system and cable junction boxes. MTCC said the stormwater drainage system will be designed with emphasis on infiltration rather than pumping, in order to ensure the freshwater lens of the island is replenished.
The total cost of the project is USD 2.45 million. The project is scheduled to be completed within 300 days.
