UNODC donates vessel search equipment to MCS

United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) has donated vessel search tools and equipment to Maldives Customs Service (MCS).

The donation was made under the UNODC Global Maritime Crime Programme to assist and curb the import of drugs and other illegal substances to Maldives. The tools and equipment donated to MCS were funded by the Japanese government. The safety gear, tools and equipment required for vessel search were received by Commissioner General of Customs Abdulla Shareef.

Speaking at the handover ceremony, the commissioner general noted UNODC has been a consistent partner in building the enforcement capability of Maldives and thanked the Japanese government and UNODC for the donation.
