Vice President Faisal Naseem has held discussions with relevant stakeholders regarding the expansion of healthcare services offered in Kulhudhuffushi Regional Hospital.
During the meeting held at the President’s Office, the vice president stated that the government strives to improve healthcare services offered in islands outside of Male' region, so that people do not need to travel abroad or to the capital to access medical care. He referenced statistics showing that an increasing number of people seek healthcare from Kulhudhuffushi Regional Hospital, despite the challenges of COVID-19, and noted it as a sign of the public's confidence in the services being offered at the hospital. He urged relevant authorities to collaborate to expand healthcare in the region.
Senior officials from Kulhudhuffushi Regional Hospital who spoke at the meeting voiced their concerns over challenges in human resource development. They discussed strategies to strengthen efforts to improve the quality of services offered at the hospital.
Speaking further, Vice President Faisal Naseem noted the importance of decentralised governance frameworks to facilitate the expansion of health services to all regions. He urged officials from the Ministry of Health to reiterate to all stakeholders the importance of decentralization to enhance healthcare access.
The meeting was attended by the acting Minister of Health and Minister of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure, Mohamed Aslam and parliamentarians representing the constituencies of Kulhudhuffushi City, as well as senior officials from the Ministry of Health and the President’s Office.
