Health Protection Agency (HPA) has lifted the monitoring status from Hoadehdhoo, Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll.
Hoadehdhoo was put under monitoring on September 4, after two individuals who travelled to the island tested positive for COVID-19. Since then, 47 cases have been reported in the island, including 43 cases from one cluster. This is the largest number of cases reported from an island outside the Greater Male’ Region.
HPA revealed 44 individuals who contracted COVID-19 in Hoadehdhoo have now fully recovered, leaving only 3 active cases as of October 4. Over 200 individuals were identified as contacts of the positive cases in Hoadehdhoo, all of whom were tested for COVID-19. HPA revealed a further 450 samples were tested in the island under random sampling.
COVID-19 cases were found in 6% of the households in Hoadehdhoo, while direct contacts were found from 19% households. However, HPA did not declare a community spread situation in the island as almost all of the cases belonged to one cluster.
