Lufthansa to resume flights to the Maldives next year

German airline Lufthansa has announced it will restart flights to the Maldives in 2021.

Lufthansa suspended its operations to the Maldives earlier this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The airline has been restarting operations to different destinations following the reopening of international borders around the world. The airline announced it will restart operations to the Maldives in 2021, and has opened the opportunity to make bookings.

Lufthansa operates a direct flight from Frankfurt, Germany to Velana International Airport (VIA) in Male’. The airline announced two flights will be operated weekly upon resumption of the service.

Maldives reopened its borders on July 15, more than three months after borders were closed due to COVID-19. Since then, several international airlines have restarted flight operations to the Maldives.
