Singaporean airline SilkAir has decided to resume flights to the Maldives in December.
SilkAir, which is operated under Singapore Airlines, suspended its operations to the Maldives earlier this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The airline revealed two weekly flights will be operated to the Maldives upon reinstating operations in December.
Singapore Airlines introduced its operations to Maldives in March 1984, while SilkAir launched its operations to the Maldives in October 2015. Before the borders of the Maldives were closed due to the pandemic, SilkAir and Singapore Airlines conducted 16 flights every week.
Since reopening borders, many airlines have resumed operations to Velana International Airport (VIA).
