Maldives Immigration has stated over 22,000 tourists have visited the Maldives, since borders were reopened on July 15.
As per the latest statistics, as of October 5, the total arrivals recorded since reopening borders is at 22,007. Up until the border was closed due to COVID-19 pandemic, the Maldives had recorded 382,760 tourist arrivals. With the opening of the borders, 7,628 tourists arrived in August and 9,538 tourists arrived to Maldives in September. The statistics further revealed 3,140 tourists arrived in Maldives in the first week of this month.
The highest number of arrivals since reopening borders were recorded from Russia with 3,598 arrivals. Meanwhile, 2,967 arrivals were recorded from the UAE.
