HPA nears completion of investigation into the North Police Cluster

Health Protection Agency (HPA) has revealed it has neared completion of investigation into the North Police Cluster.

Six islands in the north were placed under monitoring on October 5 after a police officer in Kulhudhuffushi City tested positive for COVID-19. 10 individuals have tested positive from the cluster, of which two tested positive on October 16.

HPA said the two who tested positive on October 16 were two other police officers working in Kulhudhuffushi who were tested after being identified as contacts of others in the cluster who tested positive for the virus. HPA said it has collected over 130 samples related to the cluster thus far.

Kulhudhuffushi currently has 6 active cases of COVID-19 and they all are contacts of the first positive case in the island. Additionally, 4 individuals from the cluster have tested positive for the virus in Dhihdhoo, Haa Alif atoll. They include 3 police officers and the spouse of an officer.
