Health Emergency Operation Centre (HEOC) has stated direct contacts of the COVID-19 cluster formed among police officers in the north are spread out in 10 different islands.
Several islands in the north were placed under monitoring on October 5 after a police officer in Kulhudhuffushi City tested positive for COVID-19. HEOC revealed 17 individuals have since tested positive from this cluster, including 11 cases from Kulhudhuffushi, 4 cases from Dhihdhoo, Haa Alifu Atoll and one case each from Kurinbee, Haa Dhaalu Atoll and Foakaidhoo, Shaviyani Atoll.
HEOC said contacts of the cluster are spread out in 10 different islands across Haa Alifu, Haa Dhaalu and Shaviyani Atoll. HEOC said the largest number of contacts were identified from Kulhudhuffushi and Dhihdhoo, with 154 and 47 contacts respectively.
HEOC has declared there is a local transmission in Kulhudhuffushi and has placed the city under monitoring. Entry and exit from Kulhudhuffushi has been banned, with exceptions provided for health emergencies and supply of essential items. Schools in Kulhudhuffushi have also been closed temporarily.
