Austrian Airlines has decided to commence scheduled flights to the Maldives from October 25.
Austrian Airlines announced direct flights between Vienna, Austria and Velana International Airport (VIA) in the Maldives will commence on October 25. The airline announced it will commence twice-weekly services to the Maldives in mid-December, coinciding with the winter season.
Austrian Airlines stated it will serve about 60 destinations this winter. The airline’s network includes Bangkok, Chicago, Newark, Shanghai and Washington DC.
Austrian Airlines joins joins a list of major international airlines which have resumed flights to the Maldives, since the country reopened its borders on July 15. Airlines which have resumed operations to the Maldives include Qatar Airways, Emirates, Etihad Airways, Sri Lankan Airlines, Turkish Airlines, Air India, IndiGo, Aeroflot, British Airways, SpiceJet and Edelweiss.
