Health Emergency Operation Centre (HEOC) has urged residents of Kulhudhuffushi City to immediately consult the flu clinic upon the appearance of flu symptoms.
Speaking at a press conference, Dr. Mohamed Ali from the Technical Advisory Group (TAG) of HEOC said Kulhudhuffushi must remain cautious over the spread of COVID-19, despite all random samples taken from the city testing negative for COVID-19. Noting the city is still under high risk after positive cases were identified from the direct contacts of a police officer, Dr. Mohamed Ali called on the residents of the city to observe personal safety measures and precautions to stay safe from COVID-19. He also urged the people to immediately consult the flu clinic established in the city if any symptoms such as fever, cough appear as these are the first symptoms which appear in 85% of COVID-19 cases.
Speaking further, Dr. Mohamed Ali advised individuals showing flu symptoms to wear surgical masks instead of cloth masks. He also advised the people of Kulhudhuffushi to stay indoors and avoid going out for non-essential purposes.
HEOC placed Kulhudhuffushi under monitoring after a police officer in the city tested positive for COVID-19 on October 5. A COVID-19 cluster was formed among contacts of the police officer with 17 linked cases, including 11 cases from Kulhudhuffushi.
Since then, HEOC has conducted random sampling in Kulhudhuffushi to identify the level of community transmission. As such, 120 individuals were tested in random, although all of them returned negative results.
