Health Emergency Operation Centre (HEOC) has revealed all samples collected in the second round of random sampling from Kulhudhuffushi City have tested negative for COVID-19.
HEOC placed Kulhudhuffushi under monitoring after a police officer in the city tested positive for COVID-19 on October 5. A COVID-19 cluster was formed among contacts of the police officer with 17 linked cases, including 11 cases from Kulhudhuffushi.
Since then, HEOC has conducted random sampling in Kulhudhuffushi to identify the level of community transmission. As such, 120 individuals were tested in random during the first round, with all of them returned negative results. Kulhudhuffushi Regional Hospital revealed a further 100 individuals were tested in random in the second round, all of which had also tested negative.
As there are active cases in Kulhudhuffushi, HEOC has urged residents of the island to immediately consult the flu clinic upon the appearance of any flu symptoms.
