Health Emergency Operation Centre (HEOC) has revealed an additional two samples taken from Kandima Maldives Resort have tested positive for COVID-19.
HEOC began testing samples from the resort after a 60-year-old employee, who passed away on October 30, tested positive for COVID-19. HEOC revealed 17 samples taken from the resort had tested positive on October 31, while another two samples taken on November 1 had also tested positive.
HEOC stated 33 samples were tested from Kandima on November 1, including samples of 12 staff and 21 tourists. The centre announced a further 149 samples taken from the resort will be tested on November 2.
Samples from the resort are collected by a special team from Dhaalu Atoll Hospital. Contact tracing of the individuals who tested positive is also ongoing.
