Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) has revealed domestic flight operations at Velana International Airport (VIA) have been shifted to the north apron, to accommodate the increasing number of international flights.
MACL had earlier revealed international flight traffic will reach a post-lockdown record high on December 26 and 27. The company subsequently announced domestic operations have been shifted to the north apron in order to accommodate the incoming international flights.
Tourist arrivals have been increasing steadily in the Maldives since the country reopened its borders on July 15. Tourist arrivals have significantly increased this month, with the resumption of flight operations from several international flights.
