Recovered COVID-19 patients advised to exercise if experiencing shortness of breath

Health Emergency Operation Centre (HEOC) has advised recovered COVID-19 patients to exercise at home if experiencing shortness of breath or fatigue.

Consultant Physician Dr. Mohamed Ali, who is a member of the Technical Advisory Group (TAG) of HEOC, stated some individuals who have recovered from COVID-19 have reported symptoms such as breathing difficulties, stress and fatigue after recovery. The doctor said this can be treated by doing breathing exercises or light physical exercises at home. However, he urged patients who have been hospitalised for COVID-19 treatment not to undergo heavy exercises outside of home for at least 4 to 6 weeks after being released from hospital.

Maldives has reported 13,691 cases of COVID-19 since the disease was first detected in the country on March 7. Over 95% of all cases in the Maldives have now fully recovered. There are currently 527 active cases in the country.
