Maldives reports 79 new COVID-19 cases, active cases exceed 1,000

Maldives reports 79 new cases of COVID-19, exceeding the total number of active cases over 1,000.

As per the latest statistics of Health Protection Agency (HPA), 79 new cases were detected between 1800hrs on January 19 and 1800hrs on January 20. This includes 36 cases from the Greater Male’ Region and 35 cases from operational resorts. Meanwhile, 24 recoveries recorded in the aforementioned 24 hours.

With the latest update in cases, the total number of COVID-19 cases reported in the Maldives has risen to 14,712. This includes 1,017 active cases, 13,639 recoveries and 49 deaths. There are currently 79 COVID-19 patients undergoing treatment at hospitals or medical facilities.
